The Alexander House Apostolate

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

~1 Corinthians 13:13

The Story

The Alexander House Apostolate is an online entity dedicated to creating courses/resourses and offering services to assist marriages, families and relationships by offering hope and bringing healing.  TAHA  is the result of Greg and Julie bouncing back from the brink of divorce 19 years ago. After living most of their married life by the prescriptions of the world, they hit "rock-bottom" and concluded that divorce was the only way out of the pain and misery they were causing each other.

After an attempt to find resolve through their parish priest and a Catholic therapist they realized that a divorce was inevitable and called their two kids into the room, Chris - 9 and Lauren - 7, and explained that they were going to get a divorce.

As they continued to go to Mass every Sunday, they befriended a visiting priest who filled in for their pastor for the summer. This new friend just happened to be the Tribunal Vicar for their diocese and after learning about their struggles, suggest that they go back and discover God's plan for marriage as opposed to their plan.

Let's just say that the rest is history and Greg and Julie felt called to create an apostolate to share with others what they discovered!

The Vision

To see a society full of married couples who are living God’s plan for marriage, so that the joy, sanctity and permanence of the sacrament may be realized and preserved.

The Goal

To preserve the marriage covenant, build strong families and lower the divorce rate by helping individuals to discover the beauty and grandeur of the vocation to love and the service of life through marriage, family, church and community.

The Motto

To be a witness to God’s Glory one must be humble enough to share one’s story with others. By our example of repenting and turning to God, we reveal the redeeming power of God. We make what is perceived to be intangible, tangible!

The Name

As a result of coming to understand and live out God’s design for marriage Greg and Julie felt called to create a vehicle that would allow others to experience the same happiness and joy that they discovered in their marriage. They also believe that all we need to know about marriage should be taught in the home, hence the word house. Because it was from their own wounds that they (the Alexander’s) began to educate and help to heal others in their marriages; it was only logical that this apostolate should be called the Alexander House.

A Stewardship Organization

Stewardship is a means to an end: evangelization.

The Alexander House Apostolate is a “Stewardship” organization. People typically regard stewardship as a phrase to describe fundraising. However, stewardship is a way of life, where as fundraising is focused on raising money.

Stewardship is the job of supervising or taking care of something. The Alexander House has been called to be stewards of the truths that God, through, the Holy Spirit has given to it and it’s stewards.

As we read in the parable of the talents, we see that the talents did not belong to the servant. In fact, they were give to him by the master. In essence, they were given to be used and not to be waster. Therefore, our “talents” are not our own and they, too, were given to be shared.
